Why Robert for International Director?
Why am I running for the position of International Director?
Many times I am asked why I am running for International Director. There really is no one answer, there are many.
I am running because service is in me. From a young age, I have always been taught to give back to the community where I live, to help make things better. To serve others. My grandparents were both former members of the armed services. My grandmother was an army nurse, and my grandfather was in the infantry prior to joining the JAG corps. Both learned how important service was to others. In my early years, my mother and I lived with my grandparents. I truly believe these years helped form the better parts of who I am today. Growing up I joined the Boy Scouts of America, and learned to serve, hands on, others in need. I furthered my service to others by working for the local YMCA and volunteering at the American Red Cross. All this was before I even turned 18. Even while I was away at college in Saratoga Springs, NY I joined a local Boy Scout Troop as Assistant Scout Master and later became a Unit Commissioner. These were all done before I joined the Lions.
I am running because I bring a lot to the table. As an attorney, I have specialized skills to analyze a problem and cut right to the heart of the matter. I am able to negotiate and compromise, and know how to make a deal to get the ultimate goal accomplished. As a small business owner, I understand budgets, and what it is to struggle to make payroll. I also understand the need for making long term plans and investing in the future. As a Real Estate Property Manager, I know how hard it is for some to not just pay rent, but to put food on their table.
I am running because I believe I can make a difference. In every organization I have participated in, I have done my best to make things better. I have not just helped others, but also helped the organization I have worked with. As a Lion, in my Club, my District, and beyond, my service has made a difference. I am confident that as the International Director, representing MD 20, I can and will make a difference on a bigger scale. Service is what it is all about. |
